The Visa Bulletin for September 2024 has been released by the U.S. Department of State, providing international registered nurses and medical technologists with information regarding their United States immigration journey. Below, you’ll find our analysis of the current status of the EB-3 visa that grants a Green Card for nurses and medical technologists, and what this may mean for your future career in the USA.

Visa Bulletin Priority Dates

  • EB-3 for Other Nationalities (01DEC20) – retrogressed by 12 months

  • EB-3 for the Philippines (01DEC20) – retrogressed by 12 months

  • EB-3 for India (22OCT12) – no movement

  • EB-3 for China (01SEP20) – no movement

What this means for USA Green Cards

Unfortunately for nurses and medical technologists from the Philippines and elsewhere in the world, Priority Dates have been retrogressed by a further 12 months. This means that securing a USA Green Card will take longer.

Read more about Priority Dates and why they are important.

We are hopeful that there will be positive movement to announce soon as the United States moves into its new fiscal year, which starts on October 1, 2024. If you’d like to learn more about retrogression, access the recording to our recent webinar.

How does this impact U.S. nurse hiring?

There is a demand in the United States for qualified registered nurses. With many international nursing placements available, there are numerous nursing jobs offering opportunities for career and personal growth in the USA.

Retrogression does not impact the number of jobs available. It extends the immigration period by making the time it takes to be granted an EB-3 visa, also known as a Green Card, longer. Learn more about retrogression.

Conexus will continue to support registered nurses and medical technologists to make the transition into a rewarding new career in the United States.
